My Pinterest Journey
Just like everyone, I created a Pinterest account to look up nice outfit ideas, pretty nail designs and many more. Maybe not everyone was doing that, but believe me, that was the only reason I joined Pinterest. I did not even know people posted their contents there. Yes I did not know,the cute nails and beautiful aesthetic wall frames I like were posted by people. I was that dumb.
I thought Pinterest was just an app where you can search for things you want, until I started creating aesthetic videos on TikTok. It got so much attention and TikTok started showing me more of such contents. One led me to Pinterest and that was how I found out I can actually post my own videos on Pinterest.
So I started posting my TikTok videos on Pinterest too, but truth be told, I really didn’t understand the app. When I’m bored or take a picture I really like, I’ll post it on Pinterest and the next time I’ll be on Pinterest again would be like, after a month,two or even three. This went on for 4 years. Then it finally happened. I was trying to figure out how to sell my books because other social media platforms were not helping and I badly needed money. Sorry,let me put that again. I BADLY NEEDED MONEY. I wish I could say it to your face so you understand what I really mean. I WAS DESPERATE FOR MONEY. Not just for myself. For my family. I’d spend everything I had on my mom’s medication and still needed more to spend. I didn’t have any other source of income because I lost the main one and slowly the side ones died.
The only thing I couldn’t let go of was writing. I love writing because it helps me escape reality.
I found out I can actually make a lot of money from my books if I publish them, so I did. I created my Amazon account, formatted my own manuscript and designed my own cover. It was beautiful. I was excited.
I published my first book in February 2025. I made nothing in the first month. The second month Amazon KDP banned my account because my identity verification kept failing. They took my book down with the few cents I made from kindle.
I gave up for a month and went back online searching for ways to market my books after finding out I could sell digital copies of my book on Shopify. Mind you I’d already tried TikTok and Instagram. Even Facebook. I found one Lady on YouTube. I watched her videos. She was very good at explaining. It’s been months since I watched any of her videos but I still remember the title of that video. “ I CHALLENGE YOU TO COMMIT TO PINTEREST FOR 90 DAYS.
According to her, she started seeing good results in 90 days, but do you remember what I said? I WAS DESPERATE FOR MONEY. So whatever she said she did, I doubled it. I posted more pins and saved more. In short, I spent my days on Pinterest and Pinterest didn’t fail me like other platforms. Two weeks later, my analytics started going crazy. But I wasn’t making sales. People were checking out my books though. It started making me think twice and wonder if this was going to be another failed attempt at pulling myself out of the depression I was falling into. I didn’t stop posting and what kept me going was that 90 days. I was only in my third week. So even though my pins are doing great, I shouldn’t be greedy, I showed my analytics to ChatGPT and it insisted for barely a month, my pins are doing exceptionally well and the reason my clicks aren’t converting as they should is because of the type of pins I was posting. With a little more brain storming, I changed my pin style, there was a little slow down for about four days and then a sudden spike. I was happy but I didn’t think much of it. When I woke up the next day. My jaw dropped.
Today, I want to tell you that Pinterest has made me $26k in two months and I’ve been on Pinterest for five months now. My dear, it works. It worked. Others would say it’s God, and yes, it’s God but then again ,it’s PINTEREST.
